Harry straightens out, solves a murder, is devastated by the death and destruction and gets messed up again in the end. Thoroughly enjoyed this, although the Scandinavian mysteries are pretty dark.
I enjoy the Harry Hole stories. In this one, Harry is sent to Thailand to clean up a mess when the Norwegian ambassador is murdered. Harry is sent because those beyond the giant cover-up believe that Harry will never learn the truth. But using his innate talents for finding out what people want to keep hidden, Harry solves the mystery and exposes the real culprits.
