Set in 1946 just at the onset of one of the harshest winters on record this tells the story of men who have returned from the War to the hardships which face a country getting itself back on its feet. Well drawn characters with intertwining stories. Some parts were told with snapshots to move the plot along but the reader isn't left feeling they've missed anything.
