This is a good book about a summer in the lives of four mismatched teenagers, as they try to survive a book club set up for them by some of their mothers. The main character, Adrienne, is stuck at home for the summer because she injured her knee and has to wear a brace, which prevented her from taking a much-anticipated canoe trip. The other three girls also have some problems, one of whom is a complete mystery to the others. There is a surprise ending that will have readers shocked.

3.5 stars. A very cleverly constructed book about reading and relationships. The earlier part of the book had some very funny, laugh out loud moments and grows more serious throughout the latter half when the group fissures heat up and explode in a tragic climax.

I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I have not read any of the 5 books the Unbearable Book Club read. I hadn't even heard of The Yellow Wallpaper. My curiosity is piqued!
