Aside from the 'I am a wothless girl suffering in valient silence (from injuries that are numerous, so that I can get attention) that must be carried around and struggled over by two stereotypical strong men' crap, I actually sort of enjoyed the premise of this book.

I just wished that the plot had moved along with a lot more hustle, and a lot less 'strong victim' vibe. Ya know, Stephenie, there are a lot of ways for a female lead character to exhibit strength...other than continually hurting he ...more

This is my second time reading this book, and I really liked it. I don't think anyone could call Stephenie Meyer a master word crafter - sometimes her words and sentences are awkward or unpolished - but her skill at weaving a story is unparalleled. After getting into the story a bit, the awkwardness with words is completely overlooked.

I've finally struck Meyer gold, though. I actually liked this one. It had interesting themes of free will and socialism and the conditions under which each can work. It was about aliens but not too out there. And in general, it just didn't suck.
