I'm listening to Nevil Shute's books. I can't promise I'll read those not available on audio, but I'm committed to doing all of them I can listen to on my commute. I've loved every one so far. (I'll link my reviews at the end of the post).

There's nothing particularly dramatic or compelling about this domestic drama from 1955, and yet it somehow sucked me in and kept me avidly turning the pages. I've read and enjoyed several of Shute's more well known books, and picked this up as a curiosity. The story concerns a young American geologist from a small town in eastern Oregon (somewhere like La Grande by the sound of it) who takes an assignment deep in Western Australia to hunt for o ...more
