It took a long time to read this book, and still I could have gone on reading it happily. A fascinating read.

Oct 2016 - I 'reread' this book by listening to the audiobook. Still fascinating. I'm so excited to see a sequel is coming!

This was a friends recommendation. Excellent novel, I totally enjoyed this one. It doesn't make things easier that both the jinn and the golem are bond to a master and a creator.

Very beautiful writing and complex & interesting characters. I loved this story's setting and mythology, it was extremely enthralling. However, it was a tad slow and confusing at times. Both arrive separately in New York alone and naive to how the world and humans work. By coincidence they meet one night and realize that they much in common; both s ...more

First things first; I hope someone will turn this wondrous tale into a movie!

I truly loved the idea behind this book; two folkloric characters from two different cultures are catapulted into 19th century New York City where, unbelievably, they one day cross paths. One is made of fire and has lived a rich life across hundreds of years, one is born of wet clay and has just woken up to the world for the first time. Both must figure out this impossible human world they are captive to. Wow! So much p
