Darker and darker yet... Martin is an author of stories frightening and sorrowful both, this I knew already. But this book! Betrayal upon betrayal and murder most foul, not to mention the dead who get back up and come back to take their revenge upon the living.

Stuff happened! A lot of stuff happened.
This is easily the strongest book in the series so far in part because it felt like all of the various storylines progressed significantly.
There were lots of twists and turns, deftly handled.
I still think the Daenerys storyline is the weakest.

in a love-hate relationship with this series.. it's so REAL i can't put it down.. you would thought that after thr 3rd book you'd feel more numb but no, still feel the ouch and the urge to say "whyyyyy...????!!!!"
