2.5 to 3.0 stars. This is a very difficult book for me to review as I really liked the first two installments of this trilogy, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. This one I rounded up (barely) to 3 stars because the quality of the writing was there and the basic message and results of the events of the book (while not necessarily uplifting) remained true to the basic tone of the series which was dark from the beginning. Hm. I'm not sure what it is about the third installment that made me like it less than the first two, but there it is. Maybe because it kind of fizzles out at the end. Maybe because Katniss is even less likeable now than she was at the beginning. Towards the end I couldn't relate to her at all anymore and I found myself not caring as much as I felt I was meant to. I was much more invested in some of the minor characters - Finnick, anyone? - than the protagonists, so when I finished Mockingjay it
