I'm going to rant about this book a bit, but stick with me, because in the end it turns out I kinda liked it... but only in the end.
It's interesting to read the three novels in this series just to observe the female approach to a “heroic adventure novel”. Yes we have a female protagonist, but this entire story is also told from the female perspective. And I have to say, it’s just … weird.

I can't say enough good things about this series.
It's absorbing. Affecting. I wish I had had more time to devote to reading it all at once as a trilogy, but am happy that each of the books offered enough reflection on the previous titles to keep the plot and characters fresh in my mind.
This was a satisfying conclusion, albeit overwhelming and sad. The whole premise was gut-wrenching and heart-wrending, so I shouldn't be surprised that this is one of those series that will stay with me.

This had me so twisted up in emotional knots that I had a headache. The only problem I had was that the very ending seemed too tidy. Yeah, I know lots of horrible stuff happened, but I didn't get to see how CERTAIN things were worked out to make the end possible. The end is what I wanted, but how did it happen? The detail oriented part of me wants to know.
