The third book is the expectation I had for the second book - the emotional breakdown of someone forced to kill others to survive losing it and the spark of the rebellion igniting. Katniss seemed a bit too together for surviving the Hunger Games, but possibly her state at the beginning of the third book is because she wasn't able to achieve her objective as she did during the first Hunger Games.
