I had heard so much about the book and the musical, and finally decided to give this book a try, as I was curious to see how he would turn the Wicked Witch of the West into a sympathetic character.
I bought into the story until about half way through, when the main character "went underground." By that point I was so far into the book that I just forced myself to get to the end and find out how he got the Witch to turn on Dorothy & friends. Great idea. I thought the story sort of went astray after a while, but it was still well worth the read. But I don't feel that I'd enjoy the sequel as much, so I haven't read it.

I tried but just don't like this style of writing. The idea is great though - the main reason I tried. Maybe I'd enjoy the musical.
