I loved The Wizard of Oz as a kid, so the premise of Wicked - The Wicked Witch of the West's life story - was too good to pass up. I wasn't expecting so much political intrigue, but it was kind of fun, and I loved that she was a vegetarian and a progressive. The exporation of what constitutes evil was also intriguing. But something about the overall delivery was a little lacking. Maybe it was just too long, and some time periods too belabored. The section before Dorothy makes her entrance really

I got my sister to buy this for me for xmas a few years ago when i became obsessed with th musical Wicked, but I didnt get around to reading it till now. Haha - the musical is only VERY loosely based on this book.
I enjoyed the book and the world is very interesting, Never read the Wizard of Oz so cant compare books. The things I found most frustrating was there were many things that were never made clear, and I like Elphaba so I wanted things to be okay at least for her in the end. :(
