I liked this book and think that Verne did an excellent job of rationally explaining the science fiction elements of his story as well as doing a great job developing and describing the undersea world explored by the Nautilus. I really liked the explanation of the electric bullets and the wide variety of foods all harvested from the sea (the nicotine seaweed used in cigars was really cool).

A classic to be sure, and far ahead of it's time. I couldn't kick the idea that Verne invented the submarine long before it became science fact. He also had so much of the science behind the idea right that it's frightening. A quick read and rarely lacking in keeping me glued to the pages. The only gripe I had about this book was the constant use of there exact bearings complete with latitude and longitude. If used a little more sparingly would have made the story more fluid.
