What Members Thought

This was a pretty fresh take on the Cinderella story; the twist is that the inherently strong-willed (Cinder)Ella was "gifted" with obedience by a fairy at birth - if someone orders her to chop off her own head, she has to do it. This led to disastrous results at finishing school, where an evil classmate caught on, and if this section makes you think you might have to put the book down just hang on until she's out of that situation and hanging with elves and other mythical creatures.

The book was sooooooo much better than the movie. In fact, I'm wondering if the people who made the movie even read the book.

I picked this up because my 9yo really likes this author. I liked the movie but the book was way better. I really liked that her relationship with the prince was based on much more then appearance. Ella shows a lot of depth and is a good role model. Mainly, however, the book is fun. I got this copy from the library but I would like to buy it to reread.
