meh. it was a book. it felt really juvenile. characters pouted and teased back and forth for no apparent reason. The dislike between the two settlements (foot hills and plains) made no sense, but came up constantly. The magic didn't even happen until about 2/3 through, and even then it was underwhelming. I never liked any of the characters, and didn't understand most of their motivations.
