It was a nice read but too long to wait to meet the dragons!

3 stars. While I found a lot to enjoy in the second half of this book I’m still left feeling like the pacing was off in the first. This could have been 200 pages shorter easily. The beginning felt very burdened by the initial revenge plot Fitz undertakes. Its 300 pages easily before he even begins seeking out Verity which is the main plot thread we are meant to follow. Overall this felt the weakest of the 3 in pacing. 3.5 to the trilogy overall.

LOVE this trilogy! Hobb took this story in a totally unexpected direction in this book. I'm thrilled to realize there are several more books written in this world. Unforgettable characters and concepts. ...more
