4.5 stars. The Thrawn Trilogy, of which this is the second book, set the standard for "non-canon" star wars books and is still among the best in that group. This is a great universe (i.e., star wars) written by an excellent author (i.e., Zahn). The result is a very good read.

Recommend to: This should be the 2nd EU book you read.
This one felt quite a bit slower than Heir, but it is still competently written. It's kind of fascinating to think about how Zahn was trying to write these books about a universe that had little definition beyond the OT movies. I'm pretty impressed at how few contradictions there are even after the prequels and decades of EU books. The contradictions are mostly very superficial like the timeline of the Clone Wars being of ...more
