Wow. This is absolutely one of the best, if not the best book I've read this year.
Where to start, where to start....ah yes, the plot. Which, by the way, was extraordinarily creative. I love the way that Gaiman merges the old and timeless with the modern and original, so that readers feel as if two familiar landscapes have blended. The climax was a surprise for me, I totally did not expect to see any of that coming, although I was so engrossed in reading it that I did n ...more

Very entertaining. I listed to the 10th Anniversary Edition via Audible with full cast. I usually do not read much "current time" scifi/fantasy, but this was worth it. A similar genre pick to read is Orson Scott Card's The Lost Gate. I am not sure which of the two I like better. Neil's is more fantasy and Orson's is more Scifi perspective. Interesting to read both and compare since the topics are so similar. ...more

This reminded me of East of Eden in places. I thought it was well written but the book was a little over my head.
