Shelves: fantasy, 2008-to-2010, alternate-history-or-universe
this book was quietly awesome. it's a tribute to mervyn peake, and as such the style is opulent and highly descriptive. the plot is interesting without being ostentatious-- at no point did i think "i can't put this book down", but yet, i read it steadily until i was done. there's something about it that doesn't let go, and while i could recognize why it's not a hugely popular book, it was extremely well written and i enjoyed the hell out of it. definitely one i'd recommend to others, and one i'm ...more
