I liked this more than the first book. I liked the broader continuity to it - the disjointed nature of the first book left me feeling pretty unsatisfied. The space opera feel to this really hooked me at first. However, it was too long. In the second half of the book, we spend too much time hopping between different characters, getting the tiniest bit of progression, only to hop to another character. Hyperion was an incredible book that ended too abruptly. The Fall of Hyperion was also very good. However, I felt like there was a bit too much "God" in the book, and there was just a bit too much reaching to be profound. That and there were too many plotlines. Does it give some closure to Hyperion? Yes. Is it perfect? No. That having been said, I felt like Simmons did a good job setting up the ending.

ok... I READ IT. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I have a love have relationship with these novels. Simons is amazing at character creation and development. The setting g and his descriptions are always spot on. There are times that the book becomes dry and I need to put it down and walk away. There is something too much or too little.
