The premise of this book is fantastic. Take a 15 mile radius chunk of present-day West Virginia, complete with all its inhabitants, stores, infrastructure, and everything, and transport it back to 1632, right in the middle of the Thirty Years War, smack dab of the thick of things in Thüringen. A small town in West Virginia is transported to 1632 East Germany during the Thirty Year's War.

This is a great addition to my bookshelf of people transported to an alternate universe. Crosstime Engineer is still my favorite, but this one is pretty good.

Warning lots of violence.

Not sure how the rest in the series compare, but this book was fun, original, and a pretty accurate representation of American grit.
