I had picked up and set down Interview with a Vampire several times through out the last 4 years. I at last read it when I had racked up 20 dollars of fines on my library card and while I still had a hard time getting into once I was there I was hooked. I paid off my fines hoping to read the Vampire Lestat and to my dismay the library had only one copy and it was never checked in when I went. The very first section where he rises out of the ground in the 20th century hooked me. Then it descended into a long mostly boring description of his early life as the younger son of a penniless french noble. It picks back up when he becomes a vampire. Then I can deal with his whining in the next portion because of the fascinating parts about him learning about his vampire powers.
