Finally got around to reading this book. I like the interview style, but it made everything much less suspenseful because you know he survived to tell the tale. I really liked the reason for there being so few vampires, eternity is a really long time and it's hard to get used to everything but you changing.

It took my Gothic lit classes to really make me understand what an interesting addition this is to the vampire novel oevre. Anne Rice somewhat audaciously tries to humanise the vampire - formerly the figure of utter inhuman depravity. The seductive charm remains, but is there a price (other than living on blood) to pay for immortality?

Wow, that was in one sense exactly like what I remember and nothing like what I remember. We'll have a lot to talk about this week for sure!
