5.5 stars. I am absolutely blown away by how good this series is. While I rated Dune slightly higher than Dune Messiah and this book (simply based on it beign the first of the series and therefore getting the nod for originality and the groundbraking nature of the narrative), I actually ENJOYED Messiah and this book even more than book 1. Definitely don't stop after Book 1. A must read for all science fiction fans. HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION!!

I really liked the first book in the series. The second book was good but wasn't as gripping. This book was just plain confusing. The central premise of the plot is never explained. It is basically an entire book of, "Alright, we are agreed to do the secret plan....We are starting the secret plan....Don't make me enact the secret plan....alright the secret plan has begun." This is my favorite follow up novel to Dune, if you enjoy the Dune books you should try the Sci-fi channel mini-series Children of Dune (excellently cast and follows the books extremely well). Another book, for those who love to know what happens next to the characters and the next generation.
