This book was borderline three stars. I didn't think it was as interesting as the first book. I wasn't bored while reading it, I just wasn't super into it. The book was still worth reading but I hope the series picks back up.

I think this book is underrated, which is understandable, considering it followed Dune, one of the best science fiction books of all time. It was originally released in a magazine, as shorter stories, to bridge the gap and get Frank Herbert to the next part of the story, Children of Dune. I hadn’t read Dune Messiah in over 10 years (I read Dune almost every year) and it really surprised me reading it now as someone in their late 30’s. 100% behind why Frank led Paul down this path - he had to. I very much enjoyed my favorite follow up to my favorite series in fantasy history. A must for any true fantasy buff.
