What Members Thought

This book is certainly worthy of being called a classic. It is easily one of the saddest books I've ever read but well worth going through the depression for the morals it presents. This book serves as a warning of what can happen in an over-involved goverment if ever there was such a warning. Hence the expression "Big brothers watching". I can't imagine having a "classics" shelf without this being on it. I highly recommend it.

It's a hard book to rate; my response to the content is anger and repulsion...but that's a tribute to the skill of the author..so did I "really like it"? Insofar as one can like a very unpleasant and valuable lesson, yes. And you keep noticing the "1984" crew at work around you all the time after you read this.

One of my favorite novels of all time! I teach 1984 in my Forms of Literature course.
