5.0 stars. Classic story by Orson Scott Card that deserves its place as one of the best SF novels ever written. Superb, highly charged emotional story of the effect of war, not only on the people who must fight in it, but on the society forced to change in order to wage it. Ironically, given the plot of the book, the message of the novel could be stated as follows: "war is no game." I would add that one of the great strengths of the novel is the way Card portrays the relationship among Ender, hi ...more

This is another favorite book. I read it for a class, and am so glad I did. It is the story of a young boy named Ender. He is what is known as a "third". A third is basically the 3rd child in a family, and this is a fairly rare occurance in this society. He is also a lot stronger than most kids his age, or even some adults for that matter. He is picked on for this, and is fairly alone in the world.

This is one of my greatest comfort reads, for many, many reasons. If you like science fiction with true ethical dilemmas, great creativity, and wonderful characters, I can't recommend this enough.

While this review is far less detailed than most of mine, I can say that all of the people that I've convinced to read Ender's Game have given it 5 stars...so you should read it too! :)

I've been really lucky, for the last little while I've read nothing but five star books, and this was no exception. I was glued to this book and tore through it in no time. The progression of the story was fairly quick and the author did a good job of making me really feel for Ender.
I won't give anything away except to say that my favorite part of this book was the ending. I don't think I'll be going on to read the rest of this series. I've heard some things about the rest of the saga and the au

This is just a good story about young people saving the world.
Interesting scenes, especially the battle room idea.

The premise of the book fascinated me. I read it in less that 3 calendar days; couldn't put it down. Yet there were a few parts of the book which turned me off a little, namely the occasional vulgarity. Some of the coarseness was unnecessary, in my opinion. To me the story line had an almost "Lord of the Flies" feel to it. Made me glad I never acted that way as a youth (not that I can remember *grin*). Overall, a good read. ...more
