Re-Read 09/13/10 - I've never thought of Goblet of Fire as one of my favorite Harry Potter books, but I realized as I started getting towards the end of this one that it is definitely the point at which I get sucked into the series. I've been rereading through very slowly to this point, just picking up whichever book was next when I needed some comfort reading. borrowed from valerie. parts of this book really dragged for me. the end was good though. there are things i wasn't wild about, but i'm hoping that those things will resolve themselves as the larger story arc progresses. the quidditch bits are really dull; rowling is not a sports writer. the idea is so solid, but the way it's described isn't terribly exciting to me. she writes magical competition much better. the bits with rita are quite hilarious. the kids-being-kids stuff is very well handled
