Before the Lord of the Rings, of course, there was The Hobbit. And the nasty dragon. And all of the dwarves. I was actually lucky enough to see the animated version of this when I was young - it's quite captivating, so if you haven't seen it, give it a chance, you may very well like it. At this point, of course, the ring is a fun and wonderfully useful device, given how nasty the dragon is...

Possible the most well written & inventive book of all time!! Take the Journey with Bilbo & Gandalf the Grey.....I read this in 9th grade..and about the same time watched a similar story "Wizards" HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! MUST READ!!
