sometimes reading a sequel is somewhat iffy; there's a big chance that you can be disappointed, and a slight chance that you may love it just the same as the first. i really liked this book. Scalzi told it with a different POV, but i thought he did a great job at telling the story.
that was the main improvement to me: the story was so much clearer and defined. and compelling. and, like his first book, this had a really great ending--this one being particularly emotional.
