I'm a fan of this genre. I like Starship Troopers and The Forever War, to which this book has been compared. But I seem to have missed whatever quality has so many people in love with this one. I think the writing just didn’t work for me at all.

Definitely, this book is worth your time. It's fun, it's got an original premise, and the first half of the story is really well done. The second half has space aliens and nifty military battles, and the whole thing is written with charm and humor.
