Well, that was a whirlwind (see what I did there?). 1000+ pages in less than two weeks, I imagine, is a personal best for me, so that should tell you something. I really should start looking up lists of great first person novels, because it's so easy to keep a fast pace up reading them as one chapter spills immediately into the next. I swear, my next audio book is something under 10 hours. No exceptions.
Which, of course, is not to say that this wasn't a wonderful book. Rothfuss, as a writer, adopts a written voice and narrative style that is meant to make you, as a reader, feel like you are being told a story. The writing is often expansive, excessive and elaborate and you will love him for it or hate him. I love it. I do enjoy these books, but find the narrative sometimes just too plodding. Since it is all told in the past tense there's not very much anticipation to see how it works out. Also sometimes find the main character just too pleased with himself and can't help but roll my eyes. Nonetheless, I will finish the series, but I will give myself a break before I tackle the last book.
