How to rate this book, hmmm hard one, i really liked the book A LOT up until about maybe 3/4's way through.

It was action packed and seemed like a fresh angle with the poison study part. I really liked the characters, they were likable. Then it lost something in the last 1/4th of the book. Part of my discontent was her fighting capability seemed unbelievable for the amount of time she had to learn to fight/defend herself, and the way she was portrayed as such a bad a$$, it didn't seem believable.

My sister and I were in Powell's when Poison Study caught our eyes. I picked it up and wasn't too enthralled. In fact, I didn't really want to read it. My sister, though, did. So we bought it and she read it. She loved it. Here's where I thought: Parisa, you should give this book a chance. You guys have the same taste in books generally.

I really liked this book. The world building was facinating and the characters are enjoyable. I would like to run into Janco or Ari in real life. I did not even mind the formulatic feel at the end. To be honest Yelana was strong without being willful, interesting without being overbearing. Valek was strong with a hidden charitable streak. The chemistry between these two characters is probably why I liked it so much. I am nervous about reading the next book because I liked this one so much. I can ...more

So good!

I very much enjoyed this story and had trouble putting it down. Good, decently rounded characters for a YA. People you were interested in what happened to them.
Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Wow. What a great read. It's so refreshing to be able to read a fantasy novel and have no idea what is going to happen. And the protagonist is smart and easy to like. Love this book! ...more
