And with that, let‘s dive in! But first a shoutout to SK because I wouldn‘t have started this book without your review - lol.

I had a lot of mixed feelings with this book. While i was enjoying the lovey-dovey scenes in this book, the plot itself felt kinda underwhelming. I got flashbacks too so „You have no idea how much I've thought about you. How many times I've dreamt about being this close to you. (…) God, Juliette, I'd follow you anywhere. And with that, let‘s dive in! But first a shoutout to SK because I wouldn‘t have started this book without your review - lol.

I had a lot of mixed feelings with this book. While i was enjoying the lovey-dovey scenes in this book, the plot itself felt kinda underwhelming. I got flashbacks too so many YA books with a similar plot, if not the same one. Even the writing styles matched up. There‘s this girl who possesses a superpower nobody else has and also is very very very beautiful (alright, we get it, Juliette looks beautiful!) so everybody wants her. You‘ve got the cliché dystopian world with the two cliché opposing parties, one dominating the population, the other a rebellion and the cliché troubled girl with the troubled past who‘s so special.

The characters developed very fucking quickly - too quickly, if you ask me. Juliette, for example, is this shy girl who hasn‘t talked to anybody in 264 days and is scared shitless of human interaction or doing anything that could lead to her being punished in this weird prison-mental-asylum and three chapters later she‘s sporting sass like she‘s had to be an independent Katniss Everdeen her whole life?

And then Adam. Sweet, sweet Adam. He‘s the boy next door if you ask me. He‘s sweet and cute and a loyal Golden Retriever puppy but he‘s also only known Juliette for a few chapters! Slow down, Usain Bolt!

Then, finally, there‘s Warner. Warner who‘s obsessed with Juliette because her power makes her useful to him. I don‘t really like him because he‘s being a cocky pain inbetween the buttcheeks but I can see the potential for a steamy, hot romance. God, I hope there‘s a steamy, hot romance with him. Although his obsession with Juliette from the start is kinda weird.

This book honestly felt like a fever dream - somebody bring in the next one!

And make sure it get‘s better plot-wise, please!! ...more

Ich würde das Buch als faszinierend beschreiben. Am Anfang war irgendwie alles noch sehr unklar. Aber man kommt mit der Zeit rein. Ich glaube das es auch am Schreibstil liegt. Aber mir gefällt der Stil. Die Geschichte baut sich langsam auf und dann wird es etwas hektisch würde ich sagen. Aber das macht es nicht schlecht. Mir hat das Buch gefallen und ich habe es für meine normalerweise echt langsame Lesegwschwindigkeit sehr schnell durchgelesen. Es war sehr spannend und mit der Wendung habe ich ...more
