New Review, 2021:
Hold up, hold up. I just reread a few selections and gave it a hard thing followed by a reread of the synopsis and some criticisms, and I SUDDENLY GET IT. Wow, this is an interesting book. I can see why it's become a classic. And I think I still am annoyed by Isabel, and like Warburton, but now I get the ambiguity of the ending and the ideas that Henry James was trying to arrive at.
Due to the fact that I did not reread it, not in its entirety, I shall not reconsider my rating. B ...more
