What is there to say? Of course the end of this beautifully written series was five stars.

How could it not be?

This ending to the series was everything I could have wanted and dreamed of when I started reading and loving this series in 2016 and as of 2022 finally after so long finished.

I will totally say I teared up at so many parts in this book. How could I not? Sarah J Maas did a wonderful job with everything from start to finish.

This ending to the series was everything I could have wanted and dreamed of when I started reading and loving this series in 2016 and as of 2022 finally after so long finished.

I will totally say I teared up at so many parts in this book. How could I not? Sarah J Maas did a wonderful job with everything from start to finish.

This series was really a rollercoaster and the finale didn’t disappoint.

The start with Aelin broke my heart and I read for more than half the day to get to the part where Rowen comes for her. For me it was my personal favorite thing in this series. The heartbreak and smiles, and love in those scenes afterwards were the best of all for me.

But I also loved seeing all the characters from throughout the series come together to face their foes and how the revelations of character and planning just kept coming and even the minor scenes you think don't matter do quite a bit. They add depth to the characters, and provide background. War is a long process, and of course there are going to be lots of scenes that are not action packed. But I felt like that needed to happen for it to feel real and at times hopeless. Only for at the last minute for everyone to come in and save the day and every possible loose end is tied up beautifully.

Of course in a book this long (123 chapters) there are going to be slow parts and I won't lie Dorian felt wayyyyy too overpowered in this book. I totally understand that it was for plot and to move it along but still how many powers does he need? All Aelin has is fire, and then to take most of her powers and not his? Not fair :'(

But overall yes everyone had a happy ending for the most part. I've seen a few people say that's not how the real world works. But this isn't the real world. Happy endings are escapism and after living in this messed up world, it's nice to have everything work out and none of the main characters killed. I needed them to live happily ever after and that's what I got.

And I will never forget fireheart Aelin's love for her kingdom, her friends, and her family. I started this series at 18 and now at 24 I needed a happy ending to the series I loved.

Thanks SJMAAS for this amazing series, thanks for the characters, the story, the tears and the laughs, EVERYTHING!!!!!

My favorite book series is now over and now I can die with a smile in my face, happier and more complete than before.

THIS IS IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SJMAAS BOOK IN EXISTENCE. I WILL NEVER BE OVER THIS SERIES. IT WAS SO WORTH THE TWO YEAR WAIT. IT WAS SO WORTH ALL THE UGLY CRY SESSIONS I HAD BASICALLY ANY TIME I OPENED THE BOOK. AELIN COMPLETELY OWNS MY HEART AND SOUL AND I AM SO OKAY WITH IT.

I honestly can't even properly express my love for these books and characters. This one specifically was probably the most exciting emotional rollercoaster of a book that I've ever read. The pacing was amazing, there was a perfect mix of romance and adventure and scheming and battle scenes, and so many things were answered and resolved. It felt like watching an entire season of Game of Thrones. I really took my time with this book since I never wanted to have to say goodbye, and I'm so happy with that decision because it really gave me the time to completely appreciate and consume what was happening.

My heart was broken so many times by Aelin and Manon and Gavriel and Aedion and Fenrys and the Thirteen, and I cried so much for them. (It was exhausting.) I thought that I cried a lot when I read Clockwork Princess, but I'm certain that this book beat that. THE REUNIONS!!! THEY GOT ME SO GOOD! As per usual, Sarah is great at writing character development, and my opinions of so many of her characters really changed. I'm now completely in love with Manon and Dorian together, and I appreciate and like Lorcan a lot more than I ever imagined myself liking him. I'm basically in love with all the characters that we're supposed to love, and it's great.

I loved all the twists and surprises that came with KoA, and that ending was just so satisfying. Yrene and Lysandra and Elide and Manon and my girl Aelin are SO AMAZING. AND SO ARE ROWAN AND CHAOL AND AEDION AND GAVRIEL AND FENRYS AND FREAKING DORIAN!!!! I'm just always impressed by the way Sarah writes her characters. I love them so much.

During the summer I got a "fire heart" tattoo in my mom's handwriting, and after reading KoA (especially after reading chapter 12) I'm just so beyond happy and grateful that I'll always have a reminder of Aelin and her resilience and strength on me. That girl will always have a special place in my heart.

Okay, I'm done ranting about my love for these books. This review is a mess, but I'll end it with some of my favourite quotes!

OH MY.
I have no words for this.
It was such an incredible journey.

And after 6 six years, I still can't believe this story had changed so much through the years and became more amazing and different from what I expected. I'm so glad I picked this book from the bookstore that day, many years ago.

All of the stars in the sky.

This is Sarah’s best writing yet. I am not going to say a single thing about this book, other than this: it is the darkest, most emotional book she has written. It is heavy, and epic, and amazing. I sobbed through the last half, all the way to the end.

Congratulations Sarah, you did it.

You rattled the Stars.

Where to begin....I laughed, I cried, I loved every single page. These characters have become family and friends and I loved this book....more review to come when I'm more composed.

First re-read: I still love this book. This is still my favorite series.

This book was everything. You can feel the love pouring out of it from the author. Her love of the characters and her fans. I rarely ever get emotional over books and this book had me sobbing. I absolutely loved reading every second of this series. I love these characters so much and they will be with me forever. Thank you Sarah J Maas for sharing this story with us. I will be forever grateful.
