This book took my breath away. My gandfather and two great aunts all died of Alzheimer's in the past year so I took this on with some trepidation. Once I started though, I could not put it down. Alice's insights into her disease are so honest and interesting. I laughed and I cried. Definitely didn't want it to end.

It's hard to believe this is a work of fiction. I wish I had read it when my father had dementia, so I could better understand what he was going through.
Beautifully written, gripping story from the Alzheimer patient's point of view. I've become a huge fan of Lisa Genova and her books. I hope she publishes another one soon! ...more

Okay, I finally finished this book. It was probably one of the hardest books I've read in a long time but not because of the medical terminology or because I thought it was monotonous. It was far from monotonous and I didn't have any trouble understanding the medical stuff. It was the subject matter. Alzheimer's Disease is an ugly unforgiving disease and I think we all know that but until I read this book and actually put myself in Alice's shoes and tried to put my husband in John's place, I rea

Still Alice, is a hard book to get through. It is a novel but reads like a memoir. The author is a psychologist. Her research is through. I had a hard time reading, and finishing the novel. But, I could not stop. Possibly, because it is so close to my heart. I am in the medical field and this book was perfect for someone that is in the field or for a support group. I can't see our book club discussing this novel. It hits too close to home and very personal.

This is a wonderful book. Fortunately having no connection to Alzheimer's, it was a very eye opening experience living the trials of person with early on set Alzheimer's. I fell in love with Alice Howland right from the first paragraph.
I found myself pulling for her, hoping to find a way to overcome her illness. Lisa Genova is a fantastic author! Can't wait for her next book!

Unique. Frightening. Informative. Inspiring. Memorable. Real.
All of these are words I would use to describe Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It is a book I will definitely be recommending to friends and family. It is a book that moved me to tears. Alice Howland is a character I won't soon forget.

When I first picked up this book at the store to read the jacket, my first thought was "I don't know if I want to read something that will be so sad." I am so glad that I didn't listen to that first thought.
Still Alice gives us a look into the world of Alzheimer's from Alice's point of view - an intelligent woman who is trying to figure out how to deal with her mind. How many of us know someone with this disease? Do you treat them differently after you have learned? Once you read this book, you ...more

I had no idea when I began this book how long the story of Alice and what I learned about early alzheimers disease would stay with me. I was truly moved by Alice's story. I introduced STILL ALICE to my bookclub and each of the club members had the most insightful contributions of how the book affected them and/or how alzheimers has affected their family personally. I won't disclose too much of the story, but I most definitely recommend this book.

What an awesome book! The story is told from the perspective of a person who has early onset Alzheimer's. I work with people who have dementia and Alzheimer's. This book gave me a new perspective on the people I work with. A must read for people who care for people with Alzheimer's.
