Started slowly, but I could love Adam Kent. There were some plot issues, but I forgive them. I liked Juliette and was jealous that Adam loved her.

Juliette can kill with her touch. She doesn't want to and she didn't mean to hurt anyone. She is locked up for a murder she didn't mean to commit. Then the government decides to use her power. This is a dystopia. People are starving. The Reestablishment has taken over but they are corrupt and cruel. And Juliette doesn't want to be their weapon. I liked this book so much that when I was halfway done, I ordered the next book in the series.

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days*, and she has been locked up for at least 3 years, all because of an accident a crime she didn't know she could commit. Now she lives locked up in a mental institution while in the outside world people die everyday from food poisoning and food in general is really hard to find, animals are disappearing, the weather isn't what it used to.

I have mixed feelings for Warner. I hated him so much from the moment he was introduced in the book. I did felt sorry for him that one time when Juliette was gonna make a joke about his mother. Though I really think he loves Juliette but I think he is also obsessed with her -.- so he's kinda creepy. But we'll see, I haven' ...more

I'm glad I kept reading because the last half was so much better than the first half. The writing style changes, the crossing out almost completely stops, and the repetition becomes much less frequent. There wasn't a lot that kept me reading in the beginning, mostly just the good reviews. And it still wasn't an overall favorite of mine. But the ending holds so much promise for the next book, I'm actually excited for it. If you like X-Men, read this, and keep reading until the end. I give Shatter
