I wasn't completely blown away or anything but I really enjoyed it. The back and forth made my head spin a bit but once I figured things out and was able to piece everything together it wasn't so bad. I had the ending figured out half way through but I was intrigued enough to keep going and I will for sure be moving on to the next book. I signed on for this tour quite late & was grateful when I was accepted. Hollow Tours is to thank for today's review & stop btw.
I was afraid the back & forth storytelling would spin me round & round.
LUCKILY I WAS WRONG!
Becks waking up after 100 years in Everneath (6 months in our time), after being fed on by an "Emotional Vampire" named Cole, the entire time was indeed rare.

Nikki Beckett is back from the Everneath (the Underworld) after being emotionally feed off of for five month (Earth time. One hundred years Everneath time) by Cole an Everliving (an Immortal). No one knows where she’s been or why she left, but she is back. But not for long. She has six months until the Shades come to claim her. Dragging her back to the Everneath. Trapping her in the tunnels forever.

Now that she is back this time she has a chance to say goodbye properly. The one she’s dreamt of everyday that she was stuck down in the Everneath. But things are not easy. Everything has changed and the fact that Cole has followed Nik back to Earth makes her return even more difficult. Especially because Cole has is own agenda.

This is another book that had me hooked because of the Greek and Egyptian Mythology references. One that refer to the most ancient of tragic love stories about Hades and Persephone and Osiris and Isis. These subjects always peek my interest. I think Brodi did an interesting job using those ancient stories to create her own with a modern day twist.

I felt a connection with each of the characters and my heart broke for all them. They all have their issues but one I felt more heartfelt for then the others. Jack’s. He is what kept me listening to this audio book non stop. He’s definitely someone I want to read more of. His love and devotion to Nikki is astounding and quit powerful. I hated to see how much he struggled and suffered throughout the book. And, I wish there were more scenes of him and Nikki together but the ones I got to see where that much more precious.

You mostly get to see Nikki and how she’s coping with being back and how she plans on saying her final goodbyes. Then you have Cole who keeps popping up in the most opportune times when Nikki is vulnerable trying to convince her to go back to the Everneath with him. But, he’s not all bad you see. Yes, he tricked Nikki into going to Everneath with him the first time but Nikki has changed him in irrevocable ways since they have spent a century bound together. Way in which he doesn’t even understand. Everlivings are not meant to feel, to have emotions. But things seem to be changing with Cole and he has no idea how. He is pretty much an enigma at this point. We get just the top layer of facts about him and nothing too deep. I’m sure we will get more of his story in the next book and I’m so looking forward to that.

This is definitely a series I’m going to follow whole heartily. I can’t get Jack out of my mind and the way this book ended has me asking so many question. Questions that are going to kill me everyday until the next book comes out.

I really enjoyed this :) The story sometimes dragged on and the relationship between the three main characters was sometimes a little confusing but the story flowed pretty well and kept me entertained. The build up and ending of the book were what really captured me and had me excited for more but the originality (or what I think is originality) of the story was a nice twist from the usual PR books getting around at the moment :)

I wasn't expecting much when i pick up this book but dang am I glad I was wrong!
This book is such a jewel amount the YA crap getting published nowadays.
I love the characters and the story. And...
JACK CAPUTO :) need I say more!!!
Can't wait for the next book, so just to tide me over i made this video.
