Ms. Aleo strikes deliciously with a fantastic addition to her Assassins series. The novel, full of romance, secrets, and thrills, doesn’t disappoint those fans that also enjoyed the author’s debut of her previous novel, Taking Shots. I really enjoyed Lucas and Fallon’s story!

The novel, full of romance, secrets, and thrills, doesn’t disappoint those fans that also enjoyed the author’s debut of her previous novel, Taking Shots. I really enjoyed Lucas and Fallon’s story!

Fallon never got recognition from her domineering dad, William - just always feeling like she was just falling short in her father’s eyes. Trying to run a wine company expertly was her main objective. She’s also keeping a whopper of a secret that could have scarring repercussions from a relationship gone horribly wrong seven years ago. She knows that the decision that she made once she left California was not the best thing that she’s ever done, but she just had to protect herself and the most important person in her life. And then there’s Lucas, the caring and exceptionally sculpted hockey forward that loved Fallon those so many years ago, now finding himself on his way to Tennessee to join the Assassins hockey team. He knows that living nearby is his beautiful lost love, Fallon. He’s kept her in his heart for like EVER. Why? Because he knows that all those years ago he messed up – BIG TIME!! Will she ever forgive him? Well, he’s going to give it all he’s got to get back in Fallon’s good graces and try to win her back. He wants a life with her; he has to have a life with her! He’s never forgotten that girl that got away because of his childish and stupid ways. He seriously hurt her – he gets that. But, he was a different person back then. Now he’s changed, and he’s hoping that Fallon will see that and give him another chance to show her how much he loves her. What will be in store for these two struggling souls? What will happen when Fallon does see him? And, what about the secret that Fallon has been keeping? Will Lucas ever be able to get past that?

Fallon at times could be cold and whiny, sometimes getting on my nerves, but Lucas just hurt her so badly, and I could honestly understand where she was coming from. Will she ever be able to forgive him and trust him again? She’s not sure. She does, though, play with his brain a little bit. “Do I want him? Nope, don’t want him. Will I give him another chance? Nope, can’t do that either. I’m so attracted to him, and I’m pretty sure that I still do love him, but do I want to have sex with him just because I’m horny as hell? Nope, can’t do it; it’s against everything that I believe in!” Jeez, make up your mind already!! Lucas, he was so great – hot, manly, fun, and as loyal as they come while being incredibly patient with Fallon. And, in my opinion he did change, drastically – a whole 360! He was just so tired of living that life of the ultimate partier – making dumb decisions that ultimately cost him the most important person of all - Fallon. His redemption is sincere and honest. He’s a man who now is trying to right all the wrongs that he is responsible for.

We are still entertained by some of the characters from the previous novel – mainly Elli and Shea. We also meet Fallon’s sister, Audrey, who is such a nice person just looking for her own soulmate but struggling with her own love life crisis as well. And, she too harbors a indescretion that she knows will upset Fallon incessantly. But, it’s her life and she’s going to live it how she sees fit! So, there are issues between the two sisters that end up affecting Lucas and Fallon’s relationship too. So again, that leaves Fallon questioning her trust in this man that she knows she’s still passionately in love with.

I must say that Ms. Aleo rocks us with so many sizzling love scenes...boy, that Lucas has a pretty great imagination – just so creative when taking liberties with Fallon. Really got my blood pumping!! But, he’s sincere, a real honorable soul – genuinely taking care of his family and the ones that he loves. He’s someone that I would definitely want to have my back because he’s dependable and honest. I just love fictional male characters. They can be so perfect, but they can just be so flawed too. And yes, Lucas’s past is riddled with numerous flaws. But like I said, he’s trying to change, and I think that he’s moving in the right direction. If only Fallon could see that and get out from under that pity party rock, she might just see what a remarkable man he’s now become.

I loved this book, and even though Fallon had all those little issues with trust, I think that she was just protecting her domain – nothing that any normal person wouldn’t do given the past mistakes that Lucas had made by wounding her so heartbreakingly all those years ago. I was rooting for them to stay together and become the family that they were meant to be. They both deserved it. This is getting to be such a great series that Ms. Aleo has created. She has really outdone herself with this novel. So looking forward to reading the next installment, Empty Net!

Omg..I could not stand Fallon...she was just so needy..I like my female main characters with a little insecurity but not this much. I still like all the characters but found myself skipping through all the angst.
