Reflected in You (Crossfire, #2) in Gotta Have Romance with a Kick

Okay, the writing is fantastic, the sex scenes were very steamy...especially the shower scene. The emotion is heart tugging....but I had some problems with this book.

First of all, I am so tired of two successful people who have everything to live for, have fought past obstacles to be where they are professionally and emotionally to be so incredibly screwed up!

I have to tell you something....I get obsession, emotional dependency and all that....but they are miserable ALL the time! And a 3.2 Stars!

I have to tell you something....I get obsession, emotional dependency and all that....but they are miserable ALL the time! And at some point they have to say to themselves....I need a break....I am tired of being so unhappy all the time and happy so little.

The only time that Eva feels close to Gideon is when they have sex....The only time Gideon feels close to Eva and isn't begging her to not leave him is when they are in the sack. But put them in any normal life situation or work situation...they are either fighting, feeling left out, pushed away or forgotten by the other. This is no way to live.

And as for their therapist....I have advice for you Gideon and Eva...I would like to give you a referral for a new therapist who can give you some sound advise....GET A LIFE!

The Second disappointment: (view spoiler) A good emotion filled trilogy would have seen both Gideon and Eva work out insurmountable odds to survive and become healthy by moving past the obstacles which kept them from maturing into healthy adults....this was a cheep way to find resolution in the story. He is not making good, healthy, sound judgements. Why is Eva not running away from him. (view spoiler)

I wanted to love this as much as I loved Book One. And there is an awful lot to love about it...Underneath it all I want Gideon and Eva to find themselves...to meet in the middle, in love, healthy and at peace with everything. But this installment in the series does not give me much hope and how this ended was a real killjoy for me. I will read book three and hope I am pleasantly surprised with how the author resolves the issues in this book. ...more

I am going to give this book 3.75 stars.

First off - I loved the ending to this book which is why I decided on 3.75 stars. The first 75% of this book had me frustrated, pissed off and ready to chuck my Nook against the wall more times than I could count.

Reflected In You picks up right where Bared To You left off. Which, if we all remember, means things were not exactly completely rosey in Eva & Gideon's relationship. So I didn't expect them to go skipping merrily along at the beginning of the b I am going to give this book 3.75 stars.

So I didn't expect them to go skipping merrily along at the beginning of the book but I was hoping for a bit more growth and maturity than we experienced in Book 1. It took them almost the entire book to reach that.

For most of the book I felt like I was reading about two teenagers and the petty angst was really starting to get to me. These two are in a totally toxic relationship and until I got to the last 50 pages or so I honestly thought that they should just throw in the towel and give it up. I mean great sex is great sex, but so not worth the damage it was doing to both their lives.

In Bared To You, Eva comes completely clean very early on in their relationship about the traumas that she experienced in her young life to make her the way she is. I was annoyed with the fact that Gideon could not reciprocate with his own childhood trauma sooner but yet expected Eva to TRUST him about everything. Sorry buddy, but you need to show trust to get trust. That being said when he finally came clean - 20 pages before the book ended, it broke my heart and I wanted to snuggle him close and protect him. I thought the last 50 pages reflected Eva in a positive light - finally. When she started to piece some things together and smacked a few people verbally around for what had happened to Gideon. BRAVO!!

On a side note I wanted to smack Corinne's face off through this entire book. The whole kiss thing with Brett pissed me off royally too. Totally immature of both of them.

I know it seems like I didn't like the book but I want to point out that I thought it was well written. The fact that I am so wrapped up in these characters to give a crap one way or the other shows what a great writer Sylvia Day is and I will definitely read the next installment, because I do still care enough to see if these two can really make this work. ...more

A MUST READ!!!!

A book that makes me fall in love with Gideon and Eva all over again. I loved it.

It is one of those books that on an emotional level is so true to life. There are a ton of us out her scarred for whatever reason and carrying those things into new relationships.

Sylvia Day has written a story that takes us all inside of the lives of these emotionally fragile individuals and gives us an honest and often painful look at what its like to try to love after being abused.

I thought I might get tired of Gideon and Eva, but the story kept moving and they started evolving, so that didn't happen. "Reflected in You" turned out to be the best kind of soap opera--sexy, tempestuous, twisty, and not above a catfight or two. I didn't expect the major event in this book, and now of course, I *must* know what happens next. This is primo book crack!

I do wish more time had been spent diving into Cary and the other side characters, but here's hoping we'll see more of them in th ...more

Holy Cow, this book consumed me!! I could NOT put it down! Their relationship is SO messed UP and intense and they use sex WAY too much as a problem solver (although it IS quite hot!), but i LOVED IT ALL!! If i'm experiencing heart palpitations, butterflies, and sweaty palms while reading a book, that author is doing something right!

I'll admit, i was a little bit worried as to how things were going to turn out for those two in the last 2/3 of the book, things got CRAZY and my heart was breaking ...more
