❤️❤️❤️1/2.
Lila was mentally and emotionally strong. Wow. With so much going on that she didn’t lose her mind is amazing.
This one was had some of the painful aspects of war and how soilders completely take advantage of the community. But there were some kind soldiers and some rebels that didn’t lay it down.
I loved Aleskey and his stoic demeanor. There was so much in the inside. So peeling that onion was intriguing.
I love the ending

Lila is on a mission to lose her virginity before the choice is forced from her by the recruitment ceremony. The recruitment is a very cruel process in the dystopian world where you are drafted into service. This is nothing like a draft in our time, if you are recruited you are then raped by the soldiers and forced into either the lowest ranking positions or into being unpaid sex workers.

Robarts' dystopic world is perhaps the strangest I've ever read, and seems to be purely a vehicle for a strange story about losing one's virginity. I'm afraid I just didn't get this book. Neither the world, nor the people in it, were particularly believable. Maybe it's just me, because plenty of people seemed to love it and found it hugely romantic, but I just found it cold and plain weird. I think I can see what it was trying to do, but it never reached erotic romance for me, it was just a jumb
