Thank god this wasn’t one of those insta love RHs where all the members of the harem profess their undying love for the heroine within two seconds of meeting her. I’ve read too many of those recently and was looking for something different. Luckily, I found this gem! I mean, a houseflipper witch who becomes entangled with an incubus, werewolves, and a strange human? Sign me up!

Helena is a witch from noble lineage, but abandoned it all to be Love when a good book just happens to fall into my lap. Helena is a witch from noble lineage, but abandoned it all to be a house flipper. She didn’t want to be part of such a constricting society anymore and decided to do something more fulfilling for herself. We meet her at an auction for a middle of nowhere house in Pennsylvania. She knows there’s something about it that will be worth the money she’ll have to put into restoring the almost dilapidated house. Helena wouldn’t admit it, but she got emotionally invested and won the house with a very large bid. Now, everyone’s telling her she’s in over head but Helena accepts the challenge, knowing that there is something about this house that draws it to her.

The intrigue to the story is pretty good. The world building was never overwhelming but intricate in detail. The development of the plot is well paced and there is just enough revealed and a subsequent plan laid out for the future of the series that has me excited to buy the next books.

I liked Helena as a character a lot. She isn’t some Mary Sue who’s uber special and she doesn’t make herself out to be that way either. Helena has her very strong side but also a hidden femininity that comes from her upbringing. She’s a likable character and even more so when we get to see her interact with the other main characters. The Sullivan brothers, the incubus ghost, and the human/part incubus politician have all come together in their investigation into the mystery behind the hidden artifact Helena found. The fact that there is no insta-love or romance is refreshing and there is just plain attraction between the flirting with Helena and the guys.

I honestly had no idea this was a spinoff until I caught a whiff about the brother being in a harem relationship. Then I looked into and discovered that there was a whole main series that I had yet to read. I’ll definitely be checking out that soon enough.

I’m excited to see where the story goes as they make their way to the second house of their investigation. ...more

Very much enjoyed this book. It's not as heavy as many other PNR RH, there are no fated mates, no instalove. Well, there is Instalust, but why shouldn't there be? 2 werewolves and 2 incubi make sure of that. The setup is hilarious (an aristocratic witch flips houses), the characters are intriguing, and the tone is light-hearted. I also love that the main character isn't all-powerful, so instead of relying on pure force, she needs to fight back with her wit. The stakes are getting higher by the m ...more

I can’t honestly rate this book since I wasn’t able to make myself finish it….that should speak for itself though, right? Maybe I’m just not in the mindset for it or maybe it’s just not that interesting.

I stopped reading at about 50% because I was legitimately bored. So here is the thing, I usually finish a book within a few hours or a day, depending how long it is. The fact that I stopped reading this book when I could have easily finished the story has to be somewhat of a clue.
