I loved this story. It's sexual (in a animal/biological/in-tune-with-nature kind of way) and earthy and romantic and real. HIppie, I suppose some would call it... but not really. Was more a respect for nature and the exploits of man. Very different than anything I've consumed lately and I loved the way Kinsolver delicately wound the three stories together. I remember reading another of her books - the Poisonwood Bible, and being transported into another place in time - and this one did it to me

I read this book for the Kansas Humanities Book discussion, however, I did not finish it in time. This book is not one you can hurry through, because the pace requires one to take their time to capture Kingsolver's environmental message about humans, animals, insects, trees, reptiles, and crops. Three stories are intertwined in this novel, but it takes its time in bringing them all together. Beautifully written.
