I really enjoyed the pace of this book. I had just read The Great Gatsby for our library's Big Read program, but didn't really connect to the characters. I was uncertain how will I would like these two books tied together, but I did enjoy this. All the characters from Gatsby are explained so a reader will be okay if they have not read or haven't read Gatsby in a long time. In The Double Bind you do care about the characters and want to see what happens with Laurel.

This was an interesting book. Having just finished The Great Gatsby,I was surprised to see the same characters turn up in this book. But it also helped me enjoy the book more, I think. I cheated myself and read ahead to the end because some things in the story were bothering me. Now I understand why and I wish I hadn't spoiled it for myself! DON'T DO THAT.
