There are books that you read because you can't wait to see what happens. Then, there are books that you read just so you can say you've read them. This book falls into the second category for me. I'm glad to be done with it.

Sad characters but so well characterized.
Moral grey areas so colorfully described.
We just keep learning more about Gatsby, even after we'd rather not. (To paraphrase Elaine)
We can explicate the hell out of this (to paraphrase 1940s critics as described by Kirk Curnutt)
An immersive reread, especially from the fiction writing perspective.
Even my two year old understands that if you accidentally hit someone with your car that you back up to help them. Not everything is a grey area, or excusable. ...more
