This is a book I have heard so much about, so I probably had large expectations for it. I enjoyed the writing, and it was a good story. However, I never really connected to any of the characters. Tom is an abusive jerk. Daisy wants her daughter to be a fool. I doubt Daisy would think that she is a fool, but that is what she is. Jordan really didn't add anything to the story. I read this when I was in high school, and decided to read it again. And I'm glad I did. Not only did I not remember a lot of the story, but as I was reading it I realized that I have a much greater appreciation for the story now that I'm older. There's only so much a 15 year old can understand about love, loss, wealth, dreams, longing, failure, etc. It was definitely a more meaningful read at this point in my life.

I thought I read this in high school but couldn't remember any of it. I'm beginning to wonder if it was just an excerpt because as I read this nothing felt familiar. Interesting story but not sure how to put it into words. One thing I gathered is that times haven't changed all that much since the 1920's. Affairs still happen, women are still drawn to fame and fortune and people still do crazy things all in the name of love.
