AMAZING story. This was so hard to put down, I fell in love with these characters and started to feel like I knew them on a personal level the deeper I got into the story. What a book! I think the last book I read that was this good was "A Thousand Splendid Suns". This story was so much more than a book about civil rights. Suspense, romance, family relationships... along with a good dose of the horrors that close-minded individuals inflicted upon others during the sixties. The characters here so believable, so human. I enjoyed this book. Maybe the southern pace slowed me down, because I didn't get though it as fast as I wanted. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. There were some great one liners and paragraphs in this book that I really enjoyed.

This was an awesome book. Stockett did an excellent job of capturing the building tension of the time. This book has made me want to now read "To Kill a Mockingbird" which the author references. Hope the movie does it justice. Excellent read.

Amazing. All you need to know is that, as slow as I read, I was able to read it's 500+ pages in one checkout period. It was that good.
