I read this book for my book group. One upside was that we were all in agreement that the main characters had sex, an issue that has been a contentious point the last few months. In fact, one reviewer of the movie version claimed that while James is vague, the director revels in the thingy-ness of things and the sex-iness of sex. We tended to agree.
The quotes we read about James being a way to distinguish social class by who read James were interesting also. Many people in book group did not fin ...more
