After reading this novel I knew more about and I cared more about the injustice that Native Americans face every day. 3 1/2 stars this was a good story about life on the reservation. I lived on a reservation in my teen years and found much of the story consistent with my experience. It was not an easy read by any means and I found the end a little far fetched and maybe a little bit of wish full thing by the story teller. I realized after reading the authors notes that she tried to tie several peoples stories into one story and this may explain why for me several characters were all over the place.

I really wish we were allowed 1/2 stars with ratings because this is at least a 4.5. There are so many concepts explored in this book that I am suprised at how well the author managed to tie them together and not produce a bloated novel. Because of some of the content matter I am still digesting pieces of this book and think it's one that will stick with me for a long time. It's beautifully written, informative, and touching and definitely a book I'll be recommending to others.
